Principal, Senior Vice President – Geosciences

Shane received his Bachelors’s and Masters’s degrees in Geology from the University of Oklahoma in 1999 and 2002, respectively, as well as his MBA from Southern Methodist University in 2014. He began his career at Pioneer Natural Resources and has deep experience working on various play types in a number of basins.  He has extensive exposure to the Eagle Ford, Marcellus, Barnett, and Wolfcamp/Spraberry shale plays, and his diverse background has enabled him to conduct 3D reservoir modeling of mixed carbonate-siliciclastic systems in the Mid-Continent, fulfill a multitude of roles exploring and developing the Stuart City Reef Trend (Edwards and Sligo) of south Texas, and most recently high-grade areas for expansion in the diagenetic environments of the San Andres Formation of the Permian Basin.

He has held numerous technical and managerial positions tasked with identifying growth opportunities, planning and overseeing drilling programs, and assessing the fundamental G&G and economic viabilities of both conventional and unconventional plays.  As a Subsurface Project Manager for the Barnett and Permian Asset teams at Pioneer, Shane’s responsibilities also included capital tracking and reserves reporting while providing managerial leadership and technical oversight to the geoscientists and reservoir engineers in both areas.

He currently resides in Richardson, Texas and enjoys spending time with his wife, Jamie, and their two young sons.
